Unified front at Malia for the marina

The Mayor of Malia has requested the aid of all local bodies in order to complete work on the Malia marina. The project, funded by the 2nd Community Support Framework, stopped in 2000 before the completion of the harbour works and shore installations. Since then, work on the Malia marina has been at a standstill, giving an image of unbelievable decay and desertion. As Mayor Lagoudakis stated, the Malia tourist harbour will eventually accommodate and service 440 luxury yachts.

The Malia marina is intended to breathe new life into the area and put not only Malia but the whole of Heraklion Prefecture on the map, providing a new form of marine tourism in Crete.
